about me
I borrowed the name from my great-aunt
Attalus Audra Haynes. Unaware of her influence,
she inspired me on a long journey to discover
my family history.
I was born in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York. I first became
interested in family history when I was in my mid-teens. I have
always had a desire to know more about my family's past. Perhaps it
was because I had so few living relatives growing up. My
granparents on both sides passed away long before I was born. The
only relative of a previous genearation alive at the time was Attalus
"Audra" Haynes, the last of this Haynes line on my Mother's side.

When she passed away in 1969, her house was sold and her
possessions were divided between her 2 nieces Margaret (my
mother) and Helen. Audra was an avid reader, and I was allowed to
look through her collection and choose any books of interest to me.
One I thought looked interesting to me was "Memorials of Old
Bridgehampton." I knew some of my family came from that part of
Long Island so I took the book home. I later discovered several
names of the Haynes family in the book and others that my mother
recognized as family members. I was excited to see the names and
hear what my mother remembered. That was the start of my
journey.

e-mail
Because I don't need any more junk emails then I already get, I
decided to take some advice from another website and disguise my
contact info a bit. You may not know it, but people and automated
scanning bots scan websites for email addresses. Just another way
for advertisers to sell you even more viagra or tell you of your
inheritence in nyzombia.

To email me just replace the (at) with @ when emailing to this
address: chris (at) attalus.us Please email from your own email
account as I have intentionally not put a link here to my email address.
Thank you for your help in this, I look forward to hearing from you.

WHATS
NEW
08/28/06 - I added two Ancestor Charts for
the Haynes and Vermie families. The link is
located on the Genealogy page. Click the name
to see the chart. This should make it a little
easier to see how you are related to these
ancestors. Take a look.
Click the button above to sign the guestbook and allow other family members and
friends to see your comments. If this is successful I may add a chat room on the
site so you can chat with others viewing attalus.us.
